Phillips Environmental Portable Toilet

The Phillips Environmental Products PETT, or Portable Environmental Toilet, is a small, three-leg toilet for personal waste disposal. Weighing only 7 pounds and folding down to an easy-to-carry briefcase size, the PETT is the ultimate choice for keeping base camps, construction sites, and other long-term outdoor residences clean and sanitary. No uncomfortable positions are required—the PETT stands at normal toilet height and width. In addition, there are none of the cleaning chores associated with chemical toilets—each person cleans up after themselves. The disposable waste bags are reusable, and the powder they contain will gel up to 60 oz. of waste and neutralize odor, keeping disposal clean and sanitary. A special design on the seat flange keeps the outside of the waste bag clean. Includes the PETT and three WAG (Waste Alleviation and Gelling) bag kits. This toilet is so tough its maximum user weight is 800 pounds.

This works very well (if not perfectly)

The PETT system has made it possible for us to use our cottage after we shut down the water system (before the frost). It works just about as advertised, but for our purposes, we find ourselves adapting the motto used during water shortages out West: "If it's yellow, let it mellow; if it's brown, close it down." The gel works great on liquids, but is no match for solids. Still, it's a very easy, very tidy system (I would not want to try to clean out one of those portable flushing toilets for anything) and we are very happy with it.
